What is the Thread?

The Thread was born out of the Make it Macclesfield Forum to provide a means to highlight and promote news and events in the local area. It provides readers and listeners with the latest local news, reviews and the most comprehensive ‘What’s On’ guide covering Macclesfield & its surroundings.

The website is a central hub to find out about events and activities throughout the region featuring local news, views, music and entertainment. Highlights from the website’s listings guide are emailed to over 9,000 subscribers each fortnight featuring key news and events as an e-Thread.

The Thread also boasts a weekly ‘What’s On’ page in the weekly Macclesfield Express which features highlights of events & activities for the week ahead.

Canalside Community Radio launched the Canalside’s ‘The Thread’ 102.8FM at the end of 2012 to spread the word on the airwaves. The station aims to bring you more of your favourite music, mixed with community and specialist programming.

Geographical Reach

Our aim is to serve the town of Macclesfield and outlying villages and hamlets in the immediate vicinity. As such any events or news items wishing to feature on the website would need to meet these criteria in order to be listed.

What we can do for you?

First and foremost we’re a community-focussed body that is fast becoming the point of reference for residents and visitors alike when it comes to deciding what to do at the weekend. We already receive contributions from many groups, businesses, organisations and individuals within the local area but we want to expand this to ensure we’re featuring the many goings on!

What we need from you?

News, news and more news! Have you got a special event coming up in or around the town? Whether it’s a sport, charity, crafts or child-friendly activity simply let us know the details and we’ll ensure we shout about it to our many followers and readers.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Thread is financially supported by local businesses that have sponsored the network and they are featured throughout the website and on air in return for investing in their local community. If you’re a business looking to raise your profile then please get in touch, and will explain the flexible packages available and highlight just what you can get for your money with The Thread.
